MSCA's Post-Pandemic Era Challenges in the Retail Industry
This brochure focuses on how the shopping center industry has had unprecedented challenges throughout the ongoing pandemic. We have been trying to maneuver our way through large numbers of national retail bankruptcies, workforce shortages, supply-chain issues, and inflation to name a few. These obstacles have a direct impact on Minnesota’s overall economy and tax receipts. MSCA advocates for the growth of the Minnesota shopping center industry by keeping property taxes low, limiting municipal power over taxes/fees, and making decisions that help this industry and our economy thrive.

This free report, published in January, documents how the shopping center industry has had unprecedented challenges throughout the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. These obstacles have a direct impact our Minnesota’s overall economy, tax receipts and our community's viabillity. Therefore, MSCA strongly advocates for legislation that enhances business opportunities, allows companies to increase sales and grow Minnesota's employment base.

"State of Retail" Annual Report
The 2011 report includes information on the Twin Cities retail market universe for centers greater than 30,000 square feet, which is comprised of 461 properties totaling 64,685,364 square feet. The report offers an updated database of retail properties on CD, providing a comprehensive listing of 517 properties of the major Minnesota markets.
