2001 Recap

The 11th annual MSCA Golf Tournament was fantastic!   The morning looked ominous, but the rain ceased and the sun and heat came out.  We had a total attendance of 248 golfers with an additional 7 people that joined us for dinner.  We raised more money in 2001 for the Caring Tree than previous years. The total amount raised for the Caring Tree was $7,139.00 through our traditional raffle tickets, 2nd annual Silent Auction, Putting Contest and a generous donation from the Cuningham Group.  A huge “Thank You” to Best Buy and Golf Galaxy for their assistance with the raffle items, including: TV's, DVD player, home compact stereo system, golf clubs and more.  Bruce Ackerman, a new member from Northern Chemical, sponsored a golf clinic at the driving range prior to the shotgun start.  Twenty people attended the session and walked away better golfers.  Thanks to Bruce for donating his time and expertise.

The corporate sponsorship was amazing this year.  It is great to see so many people interested in sponsoring holes, getting involved and realizing the benefit of this tournament.  The tournament offers signage exposure and networking opportunities for the member companies and their employees.  We sold out of hole sponsors well before we were done marketing.  We apologize to those companies interested in sponsorship that we could not accommodate.  There will be another opportunity next year!

I want to thank the golf committee members, the many volunteers, and MSCA staff for their dedication and time in making this year’s tournament a success.  This event is getting better each year!
